SOUTH BUFFALO - Sample internationally influenced foods that can be found at our fine local restaurants as you enjoy time with friends at this year’s Taste of Mercy event to be held Fri., Oct. 4 from 6-10 pm at Mount Mercy Academy.

The third annual Taste of Mercy will see return restaurants as well as feature a few new names, allowing participants to enjoy foods from Coyote Cafe, BW’s Barbeque, Schwabl’s, D’Avolio Oils & Vinegars, ECC Culinary Arts, and Ilio DiPaolo’s, as well as many South Buffalo favorites. Participants will be asked to sample foods from the various restaurants throughout the tasting portion of the evening and vote for their favorites.

Curly’s Grill will be in attendance as Kirk and Krista VanWagner attempt to win their 3rd consecutive “Favorite Restaurant” award. Curly’s is a unique fine dining restaurant located at 647 Ridge Rd. and is know for their beautiful banquet facility, great lunch specials and half-priced happy hour appetizers. At past Taste of Mercy events Curly’s Grill has been known to serve delicious jerk pork sandwiches with a unique mango chutney. Many are waiting to see what Curly’s Grill will bring to the table for this year’s contest.

After the tasting portion of the evening, Handsome Pete will be joining the event. The self-proclaimed “Greatest rock band in Buffalo”, the guys will take the stage at 8pm and entertain for the duration of the evening, while attendees enjoy an open bar and the many raffles. The event will include an extensive basket raffle and split-club raffle, as well as a raffle for (2) 100 Level Buffalo Bills tickets on the 50 yard line at the Bills v NY Jets game on Nov 17 and a chance to win $500 off of Mercy Tuition for your favorite MMA student.

Mount Mercy Academy, located at 88 Red Jacket Pkwy., also has an upcoming Open House. Interested students and parents can stop by the school the evenings of Oct. 9 from 4-7 pm and Oct. 10 from 6-8 pm to take a tour, talk to current students and faculty, and to register for the upcoming Catholic High School entrance exam. Incoming freshman and transfer students can also set up a date to shadow a MMA student by contacting Jeanne Burvid at 825-8796 ext. 320.

Get your tickets now for the Taste of Mercy event which has sold out the last two years. Your $30 ticket includes all tastings, open bar, and live entertainment and can be purchased by calling or emailing Special Events Manager, Leanne Maloney, at lmaloney@mtmercy.org or 825-8796 ext. 306.
