Elaine's Flower Shoppe is looking for Santa helpers this year: Be an ELF

LANCASTER- “He came crashing through the ceiling,” laughed Owner of Elaine’s Flower Shoppe, Elaine Bialecki, referring to ELF, the Elf of course, who visits her store every holiday season.
“He’s the elf that loves flowers,” she said.
Six and half feet long elf legs dangle from the ceiling of the flower shoppe as the Everyone Loves Flowers (ELF), The Elf lets us know it is time to get into the holiday spirit.
Let’s remember that Christmas also serves as a time to give back to others who are less fortunate and once again Bialecki and her crew will be donating $5 to the local food panties every time a customer purchases an “ELF Vase” arrangement through the month of December.
“I know the food pantries all need help and we’re in the community and we want to give back,” remarked Bialecki.
This is the second time Bialecki is holding this fundraiser and because of this idea she was recognized as Marketer of the Month in October by Teleflora, receiving $100.
“They were so impressed with this idea,” said Bialecki. “There is also a flower shoppe in Rochester that is going to be doing something similar. They just thought it was a clever idea.”
Bialecki came up with the idea last year after seeing elves all over the place at the Dallas market she attended. On her way back home, on the airplane it came to her, ELF: Everyone Loves Flowers. From there it just caught on because everyone does love flowers, she said.
The cost of the ELF Vase is $34.95, plus tax and delivery.
Bialecki said the arrangement is different this year. It is going to be a vase arrangement that can be used either as a centerpiece or as a gift for someone at the office, for instance. It will still have the ELF motif with Christmas greens and red flowers.
The funds raised with be donated to the Trinity Food Pantry, the Tri-Community Food Pantry, and St. Martha’s, formerly Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament.
“We sent checks to all three last year and hopefully we will be able to send in those checks again this year,” commented Bialecki.
Bialecki added she is hoping to get more people to come in and purchase an ELF Vase; after all it is for a good cause.
“It’s been fun. It kind of gets everybody into the season,” Bialecki said.
Known in the community for her charitable giving, Bialecki throughout the year donates flowers to different organizations and events held in the community. Recently, she donated flowers to the Elks Lodge’s annual Veterans Day Spaghetti Dinner. She and her crew also participate in the Festival of Trees every year, previously winning the “best in the festival” award for their work.
Also, with the Village of Lancaster getting ready for the holidays, Bialecki will be dressing the windows for the New York Store with her collection of Santa Clauses and some of her collection will be on display at Beechwood as well.
Furthermore, Bialecki will be holding an annual holiday open house from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at the shoppe, located at 2365 George Urban Boulevard, in Depew.
Patrons can check out the shoppe’s Christmas Wonderland, win prizes, and enjoy free refreshments. There will be Christmas decorations and ornaments for sale, plus scarves, candles, and a beautiful new collection of jewelry.
Celebrating 32 years in February, Bialecki said the annual open house gives them the opportunity to showcase what they do at the shoppe to the community and it also gets people in the holiday mood.
“We try to do good for the community and help where we can,” remarked Bialecki.
