Fall fun at the Scarecrow Festival in Clarence

The Scarecrow Festival will begin the weekend of Sept. 21.

The Clarence Hollow Scarecrow Festival is almost here. Running from Sept. 21 through Oct. 19, this fall fun event is full of many exciting activities. Most of the events will take place at the Clarence Hollow Farmer’s Market, 10717 Main St., Clarence.

A market supporter, who Cheryl Anthony, the market manager, refers to as the “Scarecrow Lady,” has designed and assembled 30 themed scarecrows to get the festival started. These scarecrows will be hung on the poles throughout the hollow on Sept. 20.

From 9 a.m. to noon, a Scarecrow Workshop will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, along with scarecrow face painting from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Also on Sept. 21, there will be the Serenade to Broadway with Enchante Cabaret at 3 p.m. on the lawn of the Asa Ransom House, 10529 Main St., Clarence. Bring a lawn chair and some friends and enjoy an afternoon of music. The rain location is at the Town Park Club House, 10405 Main St.

A dog costume parade will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the market. Judging and prizes will take place at noon. Pre-register your pup at clarencehollowscarecrowfestival@gmail.com. Dog photos will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. by Heirloom Photography.

The following week, there will be a pumpkin decorating contest at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12. Bring your decorated pumpkins to the market to put on display. The pumpkins will be judged and winners will be announced at noon.

Also on Oct. 12, there will be a kid’s costume parade and family lunch. The “Trick or Treat” walk will begin at the market and head to the Clarence Hollow Bistro fro lunch. Entertainment will be included. Reservations are required for lunch. Please call 759-7351 for reservations.

Kids Halloween in the Park will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 19 at the Clarence Town Park, 10405 Main St. This event is organized by the Clarence Youth Bureau and Recreation Department. The cost is $1 per child. Pre-registration is required by Oct. 11. Call 407-2162 to register.

Clarence United Methodist Church will be hosting its Apple Festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 19 as well. The event is at the church, 10205 Greiner Road. Call 759-8921 for more information.
