The Lake Shore Central School District Board of Education voted to create a new confidential human resources clerical staff position, mainly to help the district handle increased paperwork from state-mandated teacher annual professional performance reviews.
The clerical job will be a non-union position and will earn a Step 1 salary, prorated to $16.17 per hour. According to Superintendent James Przyepasniak, the staff position would be considered part of the business office and fall under the responsibility of Daniel Pacos, the assistant superintendent for finance and administration. Along with APPR paperwork processing, the human resources secretary would also provide clerical support for payroll processing and coordination of substitute teachers.
At the end of discussion, the board moved to create the position. The district could have the position filled by December’s board meeting to officially approve the appointment.
In other business, the board:
• Approved the acceptance of a $1,000 charitable donation from an anonymous source to the Lake Shore Central Cross Country Team.
• Approved the donation of a Cisco 3640 48 port switch owned by the district to the Town of Evans. Recent district-wide technology upgrades have rendered the equipment useless to the district. However, the Town of Evans Police Department can link into the district’s security camera system through the port switch and conduct surveillance of all district properties.
The board hopes that the move will improve district security.
