TONAWANDA/NORTH TONAWANDA -  It’s that time of year again. Time to wine and dine with friends and family, and enjoy different all the flavors of sauce, pepperoni, and wings at the 12th annual Pizza Fest.

Hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of the Tonawandas, Pizza Fest will welcome local pizzerias to showcase their top dish in a contest where the community acts as the judge.

“We do this to showcase our pizzeria members. The pizzerias that participate and are members are from all over the place,” said Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce of the Tonawandas Joyce Santiago. “The are from this region and many of their customers are our residents, so they like to participate.”

Among those participating are Budwey’s Flora’s Cafe; Buffalo Pizza Inc. (Little Caesars); Buffalo Wild Wings; Dave’s Pizza Joint; Kaleida/De Graff Cafe; Mister Pizza (Niagara Falls Boulevard); Just Pizza and Wing Co.; My Tomato Pie; Papa John’s; Rizzo’s Casa D’Italia; TC Wheeler Bar and Pizzeria; Tops Friendly Markets.

“Everything they do helps us raise proceeds that help us with our programs throughout the year,” said Santiago. “Helps us in our daily operations, our visitors guide, our new resident packages and mailings when people inquire about the area. In general, it helps us promote the area.”

The Pizza Fest event includes beer, wine, pop, pizza and wings; guest judges and a chance to cast your vote for the People’s Choice Awards.

Recognition will be given to those participants who place in a category. Winners will be announced at the end of the evening.

“It’s a fun evening out, we have raffle prizes at the event that we call out all night long, and Scott, a DJ from Ultimate Events, is going to be out guest MC for the evening,” said Santigo.

The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Jan. 29 at Classics V Banquet Center, 2425 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst/Tonawanda.
