Bryan, Bess J. (nee Heller) entered eternal rest Sept. 10. She was the wife of the late Chester Bryan; mother of Ann (Kenneth) Campbell and Phillip Bryan; grandmother of Aidan Campbell and Evan Campbell. Bess was a homemaker, a legal secretary and a former Girl Scout leader. In her later years, she became known as the plant lady at the Cheektowaga Senior Citizens Center. She and her late husband traveled extensively throughout the United States in their retirement years. Bess loved her home and her gardens. She was a cancer survivor of more than 50 years. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Buffalo, Inc., 225 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga, NY 14227.

Grys, Dorothy E. (nee Pittner) passed away Sept. 7. She was the wife of the late Walter J.; mother of Dorothy A. (Paul T.) Duke, Mary E. (James T.) Rittling, and Adele A. (John) Battaglia; sister of Bernard, Eugene Pittner, Theresa (Norman) Koharski, Agnes (Gerald) Spyche and the late Adele (late Leo) Grys, late Bertha (late George) Borkowski, late Florence (late Joseph) Juszkiewicz, late Daniel (Irene), late Leonard (Rosemarie), late Joseph (late Agnes) and the late Peter (Judy) Pittner; sister-in-law of Helen (Raymond) Zwolenkiewicz; also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family extends their appreciation to the staff of Maplewood Health Care for their devoted care. A Mass of Christian burial occurred at St. Josaphat Parish. Dorothy was a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital. Havernick, Tammy L. (Arent) passed away unexpectedly at the age of 51 Sept. 10. She was the wife of Douglas R. Arent; daughter of Paul Sr. (late June) Havernick; sister of Paul Jr. (Sue), David, Rick Havernick, Sandy (Ken) Marzec, and Lisa (Ken) Lashen; daughter-in-law of Melanie (late Richard) Arent; sister-in-law of Mark (Lisa) Arent and Ann Marie (Scott) Lenhard; survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, many friends and her faithful companions Angel and Atticus. Lomas, Joan C. (nee Ball) entered eternal rest Sept. 11. She was the wife of the late James W. Lomas; mother of James D. (Gloria) and Marc T. Lomas; grandmother of Denise (William) Youngers, Christopher (Galina), Nathan, Kelsey (fiancé Alan Kanazawich) and Zachary; great-grandmother of Mikala and Ethan; sister of Gerald (Katherine) Ball and the late Dorothy (late Frank) Engel; also survived by Vicki Carr, Nancy Universal, nieces and nephews. Services were held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Joan was a member of the Church Relief Society. Memorials may be made to the church missionary fund.

Mourgas, Dorothy (nee Raab) passed away Sept. 13. She was the wife of Thomas L. “Tom” Mourgas; mother of Sharon (Scott) Stein, Susan (Ed Brunner) Mourgas, Michelle (Anthony) Anstett and the late Kathy Miller; grandmother of seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister of the late Kenneth and Robert (Mae) Raab. Ruth, Florence F. entered eternal rest Sept. 10. She was 100 years old. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Dzonk) Rutowski; sister of the late Joseph (Florence) Rutowski, Alice (Bronislaus) Ulinski, Frances (Gustave) Schewe, Edward and Zenon Rutowski and Jesse (Helen) Ruth and Sylvester Ruth; special aunt of Jessica Schewe and Joseph (Martha) Rutowski and many other nieces and nephews; cousin of Charlotte Smith. A Mass of Christian burial was held at Queen of Martyrs Church. Florence was a lector and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Mary of Sorrows Church.

Springer, Frances (nee Ziolkowski) entered eternal rest Sept. 10 at the age o 99. She was the wife of the late Henry; mother of Josephine (Eugene) Kociemski, Paul H. (Marcianne), James (Marilyn), late Dolores (Eugene) Borgosz, late Richard (Joanne), and the late David (Susan); grandmother of 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sister of Jennie Zawadski and Adele Kurek; predeceased by other sisters and brothers; survived by nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial took place at St. John Gualbert Church. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff of the Maplewood Health Care Facility Unit II for their loving care and support.
