Town of Evans Police are looking for any information about the abandonment of this pit bull mix female dog. At 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25 she was found by resident tied by a chain and a black leash to a bench on Wendt Beach with a Styrofoam container of food but no water.
She is brindle and white, appears to be between 8 to 10 years old, is very friendly and handles well, authorities said. At the time of the incident, she was wearing a reddish harness and had wrapped herself around the bench.
Police are asking if anyone recognizes the dog or witnessed anything to call them at 549-3600 or the tipline at 217-3585 or the online tipline at detectives@evanspoliceny.com.
“There are so many rescue groups out there that can help in situations like this,” Evans Police Chief Ernest Masullo said. “Don’t leave an animal chained to something and walk away, they can’t protect themselves. We have coyotes out here and that is like offering them a meal on a plate.”
Police are looking for someone who will be willing to give this poor abandoned lady a permanent home.
