Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-Lewiston, along with Niagara Police Athletic League (PAL) and the Niagara Christian Basketball Program held his first annual 3-on-3 Reject Bullying Youth Basketball Tournament Aug. 5.

The event was held at the Niagara University Kiernan Center. Almost 100 kids participated in the tournament, where they enjoyed the game of basketball and learned about bullying and what they can do to stomp it out in their schools.

Ceretto is hopeful that this can become an annual event and that it has room to grow.

“I am very happy with the success of our 3-on-3 basketball tournament,” said Ceretto. “We had a great turnout for our first time putting something like this together. I want to thank Niagara University for hosting the event and I am grateful for the partnership we have built with Niagara PAL, the Niagara Christian Basketball Program and the many other sponsors who helped make this tournament a great success.

“Bullying is an important topic for kids to learn about as well as the impacts it can have on their peers. This was a great learning experience for kids and parents alike and it was a good event for everyone in the community to participate in.”
