Conservative and Democractic caucuses related to a pair of seats up for election in March on the Blasdell Village Board – along with the position of village justice – were scheduled to be held Wednesday (Jan. 23) at Blasdell Village Hall.

Current Village Justice Daniel P. Grasso is seeking election to a fourth term on the bench, one that would carry a four-year designation.

Incumbent trustee candidates include Rob Hefner and Kathy Seufert King. Opposition to the pair, as well as to Judge Grasso, had yet to be announced as of Friday (Jan. 18) afternoon, according to village officials. Hefner is seeking his second term on the Village Board, having been elected to his current two-year term while running on the Democratic line in March 2011. Hefner had initially been elected in September 2010 to fill the remainder of the board term held by Michael Petrie, who was appointed at that time to the position of interim mayor in replacing former Mayor Ernest J. Jewett, who resigned in July 2010.

Petrie was eventually elected as Blasdell mayor in March 2011, and Hefner earned the trustee spot during that same election.

Seufert King is seeking the four-year trustee position, having been elected in March 2012 to fill the remainder of the term held by former trustee Jeff Adrian, who resigned from his position with one year remaining. Seufert King had run on the Love of Blasdell party line.

The village election will take place on Tuesday, March 19 at village hall. The village board at last Wednesday’s (Jan. 16) meeting appointed as election inspectors Lorraine Barnes, Edith Donaldson, Michael Hart and Carol Warner.

Additionally, it was announced that on Wednesday, Feb. 6 a meeting of the village’s task force regarding property maintenance will take place following the village board’s regular meeting at village hall. The task force is said to include any individuals who are interested in helping to maintain the safety and aesthetics of properties and sites around the Village of Blasdell. Task force members would be asked to take part in individual trips around Blasdell to look for and identify property sites of concern.

Once such information is brought to a follow-up task force meeting, findings will be presented and a subsequent plan formulated regarding measures to be taken regarding the sites in question.

Additional information regarding the task force can be gotten by calling Village Hall at 822-1921.
