The Barge Canal Optimist Club of Lockport is proud to announce the addition of Kim Watson of Mantelli Trailer Sales Inc. as a new Friend of Optimists.

By her generous contribution, Watson has not only helped to promote the Barge Canal Optimist Club and the Lockport community but the entire Optimist International Organization. Her support as a Friend of Optimist allows the 85,000 volunteers working in 2,700 responsive clubs to continue to benefit millions of children worldwide through more than 63,000 service projects per year. Optimist spend $75 million on our communities annually.

“It is an honor to award Kim her Friend of Optimists pin,” President Audrey Jex said. “I am very proud of the work we do for the children and our community, and I know Kim’s support will enable us to continue to inspire others.”

The Barge Canal Optimist Club has been serving the Lockport Community for 22 years. Youth service projects include Just Say No!, Girl Power, Fifth Grade Basketball, Bike Safety, Internet Safety, Project Backpack, Project Warm-A-Kid and Senior Awards.

Community service projects such as Partnership in Patriotism, Tee-Off Against Breast Cancer, Salvation Army Bell Ringing, Birthday Cards for Seniors, Relay for Life and the restoration of the Rose Garden are also a part of our community outreach. This club has been very active over the years, and will continue to be a positive influence in the Lockport community. Members and friends of BCOC strive to maintain an upbeat attitude and help empower young people to be the best they can be.
