Operating hours changed at Erie County Auto Bureau in Cheektowaga

BY: Metro Source Staff | December 27, 2012

LANCASTER- Erie County Clerk Christopher Jacobs announced that beginning in January 2013, the auto bureau in Cheektowaga will revise its hours of operations on Wednesdays and will be open from 10 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.

The change is a result of a re-engineering study conducted by the clerk that tracked customer usage and came about when Jacobs was visiting the Cheektowaga Auto Bureau one morning and noticed a pattern.

“This location had a constant flow of customers trying to come in and conduct business with us as early as 10 a.m.,” said Jacobs.

Data compiled showed that more customers were using the auto bureau during the morning hours with usage tapering off after 6 p.m.

“The revised hours reflect peak visitor use and is geared to improve overall operation efficiencies, as well as customer service,” Jacobs said,

Jacobs reached out to the CSEA, the union that represents the employees, and requested a modification to the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in order to revise the current work schedule at the Cheektowaga Auto Bureau, and they agreed.

“It’s a win-win for both the staff and our customers,” said Jacobs. “Wednesday’s new hours will now be more consistent with the operational times of this auto bureau.”

The auto bureau’s location in Evans Town Hall will also have revised hours. Effective Jan. 1 this satellite office will be open Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. This change is a result in a change of hours at the town hall.

If anyone has additional questions regarding the hours of operation for any of the auto bureau offices throughout the county, please feel free to contact the Erie County Auto Bureau’s Call Center at 858-7450 or visit www.erie.gov/clerk and click on the “Auto Bureau” tab for a complete listing.
