Erie County Legislators Lynne Dixon and John Mills announce the return of the Legislature’s Citizen of the Month Award, recognizing outstanding members of the community. Nominations for this honor are currently being sought. Legislator Dixon will recognize a resident from her district in October and Legislator Mills will present the honor in December.

“I am excited to announce that the Legislature will continue its Citizen of the Month Award, which was started last year by the Chairwoman of the Legislature. It is humbling to meet and honor residents who give day in and day out, not for the recognition, but because they are passionate and believe in helping others. I am asking the community to submit nominations so I can learn more about these unsung heroes and honor the next Citizen of the Month for the 9th District,” said Legislator Dixon.

Legislator Mills added, “Our community is blessed to have so many outstanding residents. This is an opportunity to share their story with others and thank them for everything they do. If you know someone who continues to improve our community through their efforts, please let me know by nominating them for this honor.”

The Erie County Legislature has a long-standing tradition of recognizing individuals that have achieved great heights in their professions, have retired from distinguished careers, have demonstrated excellence in the arts or sports, or have made extraordinary contributions to the quality of life or quality of place in Erie County.

Legislator Dixon represents the 9th District, which includes the Town and Village of Hamburg, Village of Blasdell, City of Lackawanna and a portion of South Buffalo.

Legislator Mills represents the 11th District, which includes the towns of Brant, Boston, Collins, Concord, Eden, Evans, Orchard Park, North Collins and Sardinia, and Villages of Angola, Farnham, Gowanda, Orchard Park, North Collins and Springville.

To nominate someone for District 9’s Citizen of the Month, please call 858-8671; email lynne.dixon@erie.gov; or write to Legislator Dixon, 92 Franklin Street, Fourth Floor, Buffalo, NY 14202.

To nominate someone for District 11’s Citizen of the Month, please call 858-8850; email john.mills@erie.gov; or write to Legislator Mills, 92 Franklin Street, Fourth Floor, Buffalo, NY 14202.

Please include the nominee’s name, hometown and list of their accomplishments, volunteer work and any other pertinent information.
