'Passports on the Move' to be held Nov. 27

LANCASTER- A special “Passports on the Move” outreach will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Eastern Hills Mall. The clerk’s office will be set up just outside the Customer Service Booth, between Macy’s and Bon-Ton. Applications will be accepted until 6:45 p.m.

This community event is designed to assist the public apply for a passport card, passport book or both and can expect to receive their passport in approximately four to six weeks for routine service. For an added $60, your passport can be obtained in two to three days using Expedited Service.

“Our passport outreach events have been extremely successful. It is a great occasion for individuals and families who have been waiting to get a passport to come out and apply for one,” said Jacobs. “It is hard for people to take off work and come downtown, so we wanted to take this opportunity to better serve our constituents. My office is pleased to make this service available.”

The fee for a passport book is $110 for ages 16 and over, and must be in the form of a personal check or money order. No cash will be accepted. For ages 15 and younger, the fee for regular service is $80. Regardless of age there is a separate execution fee of $25 and can be in the form of check or money order. Passport cards for 16 and older are $30 and $15 for ages 15 and under.

Applicants will need to bring with them an original or certified copy of their birth certificate, proof of identity such as a current New York State driver’s license or non-driver I.D., and one 2x2 photo, which can be made at the AAA of WNY, Walgreens, or the clerk’s office can also take a passport photo on site for a $10 fee.

Appointments are required and can be made by contacting the Erie County Clerk’s Office directly at 858-8865. Passport applications, a list of all required documents and a schedule of fees is available by visiting www.erie.gov/clerk and clicking the Passport icon.
